Warren Lee Alexander, 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, October 6th at Heartland Health Care in Three Rivers. He was born in Three Rivers, Michigan on May 18, 1936 to Arnold M. Alexander and Lesta (Foncannon) Alexander, both originally from Clinton, Indiana.
Warren was a lifelong resident of Three Rivers. Following graduation from Three Rivers High School in 1953, he faithfully served our country in the Army and was stationed in Japan.
He was a very kind person who liked to laugh. He had a great love for music and has played piano and drums at various venues around the town throughout the years, including in a band with his parents Arnold and Lesta, and brother Arnold in Alexander’s Ragtime Band. He also played for many years accompanying his mother Lesta at the antique car Dust-Offs, the Hoppin School Pie Social, on Main Street outside the Rivera Theater and at Dolly’s Red Garter in Jones. He also played for residents at Heartland Health Care. He liked to sing and sang in a barbershop quartet.
As an antique car enthusiast, he was a founding member, 50 years ago, as well as the club historian of the Three Rivers Classic and Antique Restorers Club (C.A.R. Club). He was an active club member and attended many Dust-Offs over the years. He also owned antique cars including a more rare type (a center-door Model T). He helped to restore parts and build a 1912 Ford Model T Depot Hack, along with his brother and father, as a fun family project.
Other interests of Warren’s were playing checkers and pitching horseshoes.
He was a dedicated employee for many years at Clark Equipment in Jackson, Michigan.
His father, Arnold M. Alexander, and his mother, Lesta Alexander, preceded him in death. He is survived by his brother, Arnold W. Alexander, sister-in-law, Barbara Alexander, and niece, Heidi Alexander, all of Three Rivers. He is also survived by a number of cousins.
Contributions in his memory may be given to the charity of your choice. Envelopes are available at Hohner Funeral Home.
