The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of memorial service on July 5, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. on at the LINC Church, 117 S. Elkhart Ave., Elkhart, IN. 46516 with Pastor Jason O’Neal officiating.
David Michael Nolan, age 76, of White Pigeon, MI., formerly of Elkhart, IN., passed away on June 19, 2014 at the Heartland Health Care Center following a lengthy illness. He was born on March 17, 1938 in Elkhart, IN., the son of Benne and Phyllis (Geiss) Nolan.
Mr. Nolan served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1960. From 1964 to 1968 he worked for the Eaton Rapids Sheriff Dept. and later from 1968 until 1970 for the Mason Police Department. Mr. Nolan has driven truck for S & D Trucking Company, formerly Herman and Associates until his retirement in 2007.
Mr. Nolan loved drag racing and from 1962 until 1968 he enjoyed building his own engines and racing in Osceola, IN., Onondaga, MI., as well as Martin Speeedway in MI. David was an avid fisherman, loved old cowboy movies, wrestling, and cherished his time with his daughter and special buddy, “Johnson” his cat.
Mr. Nolan was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Darcy Nolan in 2002
Mr. Nolan is survived by his loving family, daughter, Christa (Robert) Nolan-Kiel, of White Pigeon, brothers, Bruce Nolan, of Hawaii, and Roger, of Ft. Wayne, IN.; two grandchildren, Johanna (Brandon Belt) Miller, and Christapher (Danielle) Ellis; two great grandchildren, Madison Miller and Maksim Belt. Numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
