Obituary Notice

Ronald E. Patterson, age 71, of Three Rivers passed on Friday, January 16, 2015 at his home. He was born on August 7, 1943 in Three Rivers, MI the son of Clyde and Ella Dean(Jaseph)Patterson. Although he lived all over the United States growing up, he came back to Michigan to live out his later years.
He was employed for Grand Truck Railroad, Continental Can Company, and before having to take an early retirement, he was employed at Owens Illinois of Constantine for almost nineteen years. He was an avid fisherman, woodworker, and loved the outdoors. Ronald also cherished spending time with his family.
He was a very determined man when it came to fighting his blindness. It may have slowed him down quite a bit, but that did not discourage his determination. All that knew him will remember his great sense of humor and his practical jokes.
On November 25, 1967 he was united in marriage to his wife of forty seven years Mary (Westphal) Patterson, whom survives. He is also survived by daughter, Charlene (Rich)Balkema; four outstanding and precious grandchildren, Lauren Patterson, Rowan Patterson, Zachary Balkema, and Mathew Balkema who will miss their Papa very much; sister, Roxie Hewitt; many nieces and nephews.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, son, Ronald Patterson, Jr. in 2000, brothers, William, Virgil, and Kenneth; sisters, Mary Fish, Frieda Stuck, Judy Patterson, and Linda Bannister.

Condolence Messages(2)
Ronnie and I worked together at Continental Can in 68 and 69. We became good friends. His antics would keep us entertained. His nick name was garbage mouth. His favorite line was. What you been eatin? Your breath stinks. You ever brush your teeth. We all were doing it. Very sad to read of his passing. He is the third friend in the last few months to pass away. I haven't seen Ronnie in years but he was a good friend. May he rest in piece. David L. Bradford
