Service Details
In accordance with Carrie’s wishes cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery of Three Rivers on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. A celebration of her life will be held at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 817 8th Street, Three Rivers, MI 49093 on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tony Bennett officiating.

Carrie Jean Johnson passed away peacefully on Monday, October 14, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Lorraine Heard Dodds gave birth to Carrie Jean onSeptember 28, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois. At the age of 6 months, Annie Mae Olidge (Madea) took over and raised her. Carrie confessed her life to Christ at Bethel Baptist Church, Three Rivers, Michigan,under the care of Bobby Joe Tolbert. After confessing her life, she became a member in 1970 serving on the Usher Board. Later on in her life, she started attending New
Jerusalem Baptist Church in Three Rivers, Michigan, under the care of Tony Bennett.
Carrie was a phenomenal single parent to four children; Christopher, Shawn, Kimberly, and Nyoka. She worked at Dayco in Three Rivers, Michigan and later on gained employment at General Motors which led to her retirement.
Grandma’s favorite things to do included crocheting items for the grandkids, baking cakes and candies. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Carrie was very proud of her family, it brought joy to her heart when she’d have her family together for the holidays and barbecues. Eating and laughing was what it was all about. Carrie was united in marriage to Albert Williams in June 2000 in Chicago, Illinois. They later relocated to Three Rivers to be closer to her family.
She was preceded in death by father, biological mother (Lorraine Heard Dodds), Annie Mae Olidge (Madea), son (John A Johnson III), and her husband (Albert Williams).
Carrie leaves behind a loving family, consisting of two sisters; Hattie (Leroy) Warr and Jessica Olidge. A son; Christopher (Kim) Johnson, two daughters; Kimberly Johnson, and Nyoka Johnson, a daughter-in-law; Marsha Dalley-Johnson, and honorary daughter; Carmen George. Carrie Jean has a host of nieces and nephews. Anthony (Tony) Cottrell and Gina Warr were more like brother and sister to Carrie. Grandma had 13 grandchildren; Jennica Johnson, Domonique (Nick) Smith Brown, Darrell (Gina) Smith, Brittney Johnson, Kara (Brandon) Perry, John (Lina) Lewis, Davon.

I’m so sorry to read about Carrie’s passing. My condolences to her family. I worked with Carrie at General Motors and shared some fun times at work with her.
