In accordance with Karen’s wishes cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held on a later date.
Obituary Notice
Karen Kay (Blood) Adkins, age 71, of Portage, MI passed away in the early hours of Monday, May 25, 2020. She was born in Three Rivers, MI on May 28, 1948 the daughter of John and Bernice (Mellor) Blood.
Family was important to Karen and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She liked to make people happy and in her later years enjoyed joking with her caregivers and making new friends. Karen loved watching the Hallmark channel, taking long drives, crocheting, and baking.
Karen graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1966 and worked for Tailormade Inc., Big Boy, Waffle House, and retired from the Village of Paw Paw.
Karen was preceded in her passing by her parents: John and Bernice Blood; and her sister: Kathryn Blood.
Left to cherish Karen’s loving memory are her loving children: Matthew Adkins, Dwayne Adkins, and Kimberly (Randall) Tarantino; grandchildren: Mason and Isabella Adkins, Cody Adkins, Paige Cordell, and Dustin Vanatta, Ella and Abigail Tarantino; brother: Clarence (Jennie) Blood; and great grandchildren: Hunter, Skyler, and Rylan.
Additional Information
Memorials made in Karen’s memory may be directed to the Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or the Senior Services. Envelopes are available at Hohner Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

I never had the opportunity to meet your mother. She must’ve been an amazing woman because she gave birth and raised an amazing son who passed those qualities onto her grandson.
