Private graveside services will be held. A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held at a later date once virus restrictions have been lifted.
Obituary Notice
Marilyn Kay Kahler-Slack, age 59, passed away unexpectedly on April 10, 2020 with family at her side. She was born on February 5, 1961 to Dennis R. & Ruth A. (Buel) Slack in Three Rivers, Michigan.
Marilyn attended Three Rivers Community Schools and graduated from Schoolcraft High School in Michigan in 1979.
In 1979, she was united in marriage to Clifford Kahler she had 2 sons: Allen D. Kahler & Andrew W. Kahler. Later in life she finally got the daughter she wanted when Aleeyah M. Wood joined the family. Over the years she was also married to Randall Hicks & John Maynard. She spent 13 years with her significant other Berlin ‘Fuzz’ Kunz.
Over the span of her life she enjoyed expanding her education by attending GOCC & Kaplan University where she obtained accounting, medical coding and office management degrees. Throughout the years she was employed at Millburn Peat, Village Market Bakery, and over the road trucking. Recently she worked for Arcadia Home Health and St. Joseph County Transportation Authority.
Whether it be on a motorcycle, in a classic car or a big truck, she was most alive outside and traveling around the country where she could take pictures, garden, take care of animals (horses the most), hunt or fish. She always challenged the norms and was found under a car or behind the wheel on the race track to show women were just as good as men.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, and her 2 brothers, Kenneth & David. Surviving are her brother Michael W. Slack, her sons and daughter, 4 granddaughters (Angel, Emmalin, Chelsea & Temperance), 1 nephew, 2 nieces & many great nephews and nieces.

Memorial donations may be directed to 4-H Trailblazer Club. Envelopes are available at and may be sent to Hohner Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

We’ll always remember all the rides and different bike events we did with Marilyn & Fuzz. She will be missed.

Dear Aleeyah, Sending our heartfelt condolences to you. Your mom was a part of the great care givers for our mama. Marilyn brought a wealth of knowledge and know how that we all appreciated. You would come along with Marilyn and kinda entertain mama, she loved the young people.
