Obituary Notice

Robert Leroy Grimm, 80, of Three Rivers, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Three Rivers Health in Three Rivers, MI.

Robert was born June 7, 1940 in Bucyrus, Ohio the youngest sibling of five to Orville and Laurena Mae (Riddle) Grimm. He lived in Bucyrus, Ohio until he reached adult age, when he traveled to Michigan, where he met his life partner, Marva Dicken, who preceded him in passing. She was the love of his life and they are now reunited again for eternity.

Robert was an early childhood polio survivor. Through his courage and perseverance, he overcame those obstacles to lead a rewarding life. He was blessed with five wonderful children: Penny, Robert, Kelly, Todd, and Spencer, furthered by grandchildren: Ashley, Becky, Thuryl Jr., Megan, Joshua, Aaron, Brittney, Brooklyn, and Katy; and he was great-grandfather to: Miles, Spencer II, Claire, Landree, Elliott, and Emett. His Daughter Penny preceded him in passing.

Robert led a rewarding business career. Educated at DeVry Institute of Technology in Chicago and Western Michigan University, he put those skills to work at Dock Foundry Company for over 25 devoted years. He loved working for the foundry and cherished his many years of service, retiring as their Vice President of Finance.

Robert loved sports. Unable to play them due to his polio, he took his talents to coaching youth baseball & basketball. He devoted 15 plus years of his life in this capacity, teaching the value of teamwork, humility, and the rewards of hard work to the youth at that time.

Robert was of high moral character entrenched with integrity, honesty, selflessness, respectfulness, and authenticity. Conflict was a stranger to Robert but had visited him from time to time. He had the emotional intelligence to bring closure to those controllable to him, and left this world holding no grudges with those where conflict could not be resolved. He thought highly of, and very much loved, his brothers and sisters and all they accomplished in their lives.

In addition to his cherished family mentioned above, Robert leaves his memory behind to his loving siblings: sister Bonnie and brothers Jim and Chester “Bud”. He is preceded in passing by his sisters Mary Jane and Joann. He sends his love to all his children’s spouses, extended family members, along with the many friends and acquaintances he has met along the way. Special thanks to those who watched over Robert during the past several years to include, but not limited to, his property owner, neighbors, and various community service organizations.

  1. My heartfelt condolences to the entire Grimm family. Marva and I were buddies in high school, and I remember when she fell in love with Bob! Another good friend, Sukey, and I were the first to visit when Bob and Marva brought their first baby home from the hospital. Marva’s mom married my father-in-law George so we stayed connected throughout the years. Bob will be remembered as a very kind man, and I pray for comfort and peace to the whole family. .

  2. Bob was a great man. Thinking back decades ago, Mr. and Mrs. Grimm were always so nice to me. You could always count on a snack from Marva and a ride to or from practice from Bob. Rob, you and the rest of the family are in my thoughts.

    • Dear Rob and family – we spent alot of time together growing up and your folks were nice people. Hope you find comfort and peace in the days ahead. Love and prayers Tina (Pargeon) Cartwright

  3. Rob and the rest of the Grimm family.

Your mom and dad were wonderful people. Playing baseball with you for your dad is one of the best memories I have as a teenager in Three Rivers.
I would see your folks on occasion when I returned to TR. Both always happy, kind and plenty to say about their kids and grandkids of which they were so proud (and rightfully so !!)

    Thoughts are with you all

  4. Bob married my cousin Marva and I have known him ever sense. He was a gentle, kind and loving man who dearly loved his family and Marva. I know in my heart that he is finally with my dearest cousin Marva. Our prayers are for Bob’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, also his family in Ohio plus everyone that knew Bob. He is at peace now. Judy Gilchrist-Mohney from Stayton, Oregon.

  5. Robert (Bobby) was my younger brother. We really never got to know each other as siblings. Bobby was born in 1940 and I was drafted into the military in 1945 . After I finally retired in 1993, I began visiting my siblings and renewing old friendships. Working in foreign countries for 19 years diminished my family relationships.
Bobby was family oriented, quiet, and a pleasant person who served many during his lifetime. He will be missed but not forgotten. Bobby can now join his loving wife Marva and rest in peace in a better world.
Our condolences go out to all family members.
