Cremation has taken place. A private graveside service to honor Gerald will be held at Riverside Cemetery of Three Rivers.

Obituary Notice

Gerald James Hines, age 84, of Three Rivers passed away on early morning, Saturday, October 31, 2020. He was born on May 16, 1936 in Connersville, IN to the late Frank James and Lillian (Coby) Hines.

On September 12, 1958 he was united in marriage to Barbara (Smith) Hines. They lived their married life in the Three Rivers area. Gerald served his country in the United States Army from 1959 until his honorable discharge in 1961. While in the service he was on the rifle team and traveled with the team in Europe. He worked at Armstrong Machine Works and retired in 1998 after 32 years.
Gerald studied drafting at Glen Oaks Community College. He enjoyed making wooden toys, doll houses, and game boards. He was also a member of Three Rivers Church of the Nazarene where he served on the board, was a Sunday School teacher, and Usher.
Gerald was preceded in passing by his parents; brothers, Ed, Herb, Al, Dennis; and sister, Mickie Houser.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Barbara Hines; son, Scott (Laurie) Hines; two precious granddaughters, Holly and Heidi; sister, Evey Briggs; brother, David Hines.

Memorial donations in Gerald’s memory may be directed to Three Rivers Church of the Nazarene, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or Three Rivers Homecare & Hospice. Envelopes are available at Hohner Funeral Home and may be sent to Hohner Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1018, Three Rivers, MI 49093 in care of arrangements.

  1. Barb, I am really sorry for your loss of sweet Jerry, and I know what you are feeling because I just lost my sweet Billy Nov. 2. He was the nicest man, and you both were always good to Billy and me. As our hearts hurt together we can have comfort knowing where they are. My doors are always open if you need anything. Love you both.

  2. Brabara, It is so hard not to be able to a hug and give personal condolences to you and your family. It is hard to lose a good friend as Jerry! He fought unextraordinary fight and we are enjoying that he is victorious with Jesus! Love and prayers for you and all of the Family.
