Obituary Notice

Wayne Allen Shugars, 84, of Three Rivers, passed away Monday, July 4, 2022 at Bowman Place.

He was born May 16, 1938 in Marcellus, the son of Elton and Jessie (Nesbitt) Shugars.

A very hard worker with a tremendous work ethic, Wayne farmed all his life, and sold seed corn for five different companies over a 45-year span.

He was active in the St. Joe Valley Old Engine Association and the Kalamazoo Valley Antique Engine & Machinery Club and participated in the Mackinac Bridge tractor crossing each September. Along with his son Mike, he enjoyed working on John Deere tractors—restoring nine of them.

Wayne loved family dinners at Das Dutchman Essenhaus, Fox TV, wrestling, and the family cabin in Baldwin. He built his own home at age 70.

Remaining to cherish his memory are his children, Cindy (Mike) Ripke, Mike (Lisa) Shugars and Jeff (Sue) Shugars; significant friend, Marlyn Youngs; grandchildren, Amanda (Phil) Small and Dusty (Amy) Shugars; step-granddaughter, Shelby Curley; and great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Lucas Osborn, Elizabeth Fochs, McKenzie Shugars, Aspynn and Zeil Curley, and Dillon and JoLeigh Small.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna Shugars; and brother, Elwin Shugars.
