Obituary Notice
Emily Myrl (McPhail) Barth September 30, 1943-August 16, 2026
Three Rivers, MI
Emily was born September 30, 1943 in Decatur, Alabama to Vernon Edmond McPhail of Bassfield, Mississippi and Lassie Merle McPhail (Allred) of Moulton, Alabama.
Emily moved to Michigan with her family at a young age, where she attended school and worked to help support her mom and sisters. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1961. Emily was married to the love of her life, Clarence “Topper” Barth and moved to Three Rivers, where they built a beautiful life together. She worked for National City as a Private Client Trust administrator where she excelled and won many awards for her dedication to excellence.
Emily was one of a kind-she was fun, outgoing and had a big sense of humour. She was hospitable and kind and rarely knew a stranger. Emily had many passions and a zest for life. She had a very large record collection of music from the 50’s and 60’s and there was always music playing at home. Emily especially loved Elvis and Engelbert Humperdinck. She was very talented and sewed clothing for her children. She always kept an amazing garden and canned and cooked tirelessly to be sure her family had good meals, and she taught her children many skills along the way. She was an amazing southern cook and had many special dishes that her family enjoyed. Emily had a knack for furniture restoration and she completed many projects over the years, including the restoration of the farm house she loved. Her touch is evident around the home and property. But above all, she cherished her family the most. She lived for time with her loved ones and hosted many family gatherings from holidays to summer barbecues. Her home was full of laughter and wonderful memories that we will all cherish. Her family was everything to her and she often spoke about her family being her biggest blessing in life, and the only thing that truly mattered. She was her children’s best caretaker and defender. Emily and Topper enjoyed many years in Florida, making lifelong friends and memories.
Emily is survived by her husband, Topper; her children: Michelle (Christopher) Rasler, Michael Blesing and Eugene Blesing; her grandchildren: Derek Simmons, Erika Blesing, Bryon Blesing, Kylie Blesing; Makoche Black Bear, Rowen Blesing, Chayton Blesing, Ellyssa Blesing, Ava Blesing, and Shea Blesing; Step-children Charley Barth, Carl Barth and Carrie Barth; Step-grandchildren Christian Barth, Roman Barth, Scarlett Barth; Great grandchildren Adelynn Black Bear and Cayden Black Bear; Sister, Linda Sue (Mark) Honeysett, and niece and nephew Sherry (Mike) Kerney; Cherished friends Lisa and her daughters, Taylor and Theresa.
