A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at noon at Hohner Funeral Home, 1004 Arnold St., Three Rivers.

Obituary Notice
Michael James Phelps, 71, of Three Rivers, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Beacon Kalamazoo surrounded by his loving family.
He was born April 9, 1954 in Vicksburg, the son of James and Joyce (Hodgman) Phelps, and graduated from Three Rivers High School with the Class of 1972.
Mike worked in manufacturing for Viking/Archer Coach for many years. Retiring from Viking RV in 2019.
On October 9, 1999, he married Victoria “Vicky” Buckhold. They met playing pool at the Friendly in Jones. They have enjoyed retirement years going for drives, garage sales, and mushroom hunting.
Mike was always happy and found joy in everything. He loved working on cars, spending time outdoors, and always had time for family and friends. He could fix anything!
Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife, Vicky Phelps; daughter, Amy (John) Lowler; grandchildren, Michael Phelps, Shantrell Headspeth, Mercedes White, Miracle Webb, Jacob Barnes, and Izabella Lowler. Seven great-grandchildren; and brothers, Alan (Michelle) Phelps and Tim (Chris) Phelps. Along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Joyce; first wife, Trudie (Schabes) Phelps; daughter, Terra Webb; and sister, Laurie Janing.
Additional Information
Donations in Mike’s memory may be directed to St. Joseph County Animal Rescue Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
