Service Details

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at Hohner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at 11:00 am at Three Rivers Bible Church, 220 N. Erie St., Three Rivers, MI 49093 with Pastor Jeff Homan officiating.

Obituary Notice

Norma June Swanwick, age 83 of Centreville, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Sparrow House surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 26, 1942 in Three Rivers the daughter of Clifford and Louise R. (Tobler) Wellington. 

Norma graduated from Three Rivers High School with the class of 1960. She then went on to attend Eastern Michigan University, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree. Later, she attended Western Michigan University, where she earned her Master’s Degree in education. On August 23, 1964 she was united in marriage to D. William Swanwick at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Three Rivers. 

Norma began teaching at Centreville High School in 1964, where she taught history, government, and social studies. She was passionate about her subject areas, which inspired many students to develop an enthusiasm for learning. After thirty years, she retired in 2004. Aside from teaching, she was a dedicated volunteer for athletic events at Centreville. 

Norma was all about her family. She adored being a grandmother and spending valuable time with her children and grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband D. William Swanwick, and sister, Judy McGlothlen.

Remaining to cherish Norma’s memory are daughters, Mary (Phil) Webb and Kathryn (Marcus) Gleaton; sons, David (Candice) Swanwick, Paul (Meredith) Swanwick, Matt (Lyndsay) Swanwick; grandchildren, Ainsley (Dylan) Mills, Derek (Zoey) Gleaton, Lauren, Mara, and Dawson Webb, Morgan, Tyler, Mathew, Brayden, Drew, Will, Calvin, and Kenley Swanwick; step-grandchildren, Gunner, Gavin, Garrison, and Vivien Bunning; and special caretaker, Joy Hartong.

Additional Information

Memorial donations may be directed to Sparrow Senior Living or to Centreville Public Schools to help fund free admission to home athletic events for Centreville 7-12th grade students. Envelopes are available at Hohner Funeral Home.
