Obituary Notice

Wanetta Louise VanScoik
July 16, 1929 – March 15, 2026
Three Rivers, MI

Wanetta Louise VanScoik, 96, of Three Rivers, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at The Orchards of Three Rivers.

She was born on July 16, 1929, in Nappanee, Indiana, the daughter of Virgil K. and Hazel P. (Wagner) Postma.

If success in life were measured by the number of houses owned, degrees earned, or the size of one’s bank account, Wanetta would not have fit that mold. But in the truest sense, success is not measured by material wealth; it is measured by the fruit one bears: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. By this measure, Wanetta VanScoik lived a life overflowing with abundance.

For 25 years, Wanetta worked for Three Rivers Community Schools, where she helped maintain the buildings, but more importantly, she cared for people. Her relationships with teachers and staff spanned decades, and her kindness, dedication, and warm spirit touched many lives. Wanetta took immense pride in her work; her love for her family and devotion to her faith were evident in all that she did.

Her life was a living testament to the faithfulness of God, and it is this legacy—her unwavering love, devotion, and service—that she leaves behind. Wanetta worshipped her Savior faithfully until her last breath, and her life will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Wanetta was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin VanScoik; son, Jack VanScoik; daughter, Lisa (VanScoik) Barnes; brother, Charles Postma.

Remaining to cherish her memory are her children, Linda (Keith) Pierce, Steve (Lynda) VanScoik, Tony (Pam) VanScoik, and Scott (Susan) VanScoik, daughter-in-law, Brenda VanScoik, and son-in-law, Duane Barnes; grandchildren, Chuckie Schrader, Amy (Bruce) Weller, Doug (Haven) Schrader, Kelley (Jason) Moore, Betsy (Jeremy) Verwys, Michael (Sarah) VanScoik, Dennis VanScoik, Joey (Marisa) VanScoik, Crystal (Travis) Smith, Tim VanScoik, Phillip VanScoik, Jason (Jenny) Kerr, Autumn (Brock) Yost, Matt (Jessica) Kerr, Travis Kerr, James Staffen, and Ben VanScoik; 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Brothers, Robert Postma, Arland Postma and Leroy Postma; sisters, Bonnie Crisp and JoAnn Williams.
