Obituary Notice
Donald Louis Yax Jr., 69, of Marcellus, passed away Monday, March 30, 2026 at his daughter’s home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born January 28, 1957 in Kalamazoo, the son of Donald and Barbara (Taft) Yax.
Donald was self-employed as a carpenter and also worked for American Village.
He loved the outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, motorcycling, or mushrooming. He also enjoyed working in his shop, going to the flea market, helping his family with projects, and gathering around the table for family meals.
Remaining to cherish his memory are his ex wife/friend, Shelly Yax; four daughters, Donna (Tim) Higley, Nicole (Doug Johnston) Yax, LeeAnne Price, and Airon (Corey) Smith; 13 grandchildren, Tristian, Trinity, Logan, Lucas, Thomas, McKenzie, Carmelo, Brooklyn, Tianna, Corey Jr., Megan, Syrenity, and Jaiden; one great-granddaughter, Ka’ya; two brothers, Terry Yax and Larry (Cherie) Yax; two sisters, Patty (Jack) Noel and Patsy (Larry) Aldrich; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by one aunt, Dorothy Taft.

I’m so sorry to hear of Don’s passing. I didn’t know him well, but I remember we would have some good talks about deer hunting years ago. I always enjoyed talking with him when we crossed paths.
