Obituary Notice
Tara Elaine Scott, age 54, of Three Rivers, MI, passed away at Elkhart General Hospital on July 25, 2026.
Tara was born September 12, 1971 in South Bend, IN to James G. Ludington and Marshanna E. Hayes.
She is survived by her children, John (Kimberly) Scott of Constantine, MI, and Nicholas (Marissa) Scott of Elkhart, IN; and her grandchildren, Rylee, John Jr, Anayah, Bellemy, Addikis, and Azilana.
Tara shared many cherished years with Dayton Smith of Three Rivers, MI creating memories and a bond that would remain a special part of her heart forever. In the later years of her life she found a new kind of happiness and companionship with Brian Presnell of Middlebury, IN who brought laughter, comfort, love and joy into her final chapter.
Surviving as well are her siblings, Beth Harrison of North Webster, IN and James Ludington of South Bend, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents James and Marshanna as well as her twins that were born sleeping.
Tara, affectionately known as Grammie, found her greatest joy in spending time with her grandchildren. She loved fishing, swimming with her grandbabies in the lake, being outdoors, and simply making memories with the people she loved most. She had a special love for butterflies and animals, especially her current dog, Diva.
Grammie had a laugh and personality all her own. She was known for laughing at the most unexpected times when her nerves got the best of her, bringing smiles and laughter to those around her. She was also famous for her delicious stuffed green peppers, a favorite that her family will always remember.
Tara treasured the time she spent with her boys John and Nick Scott and cherished every moment with her family and friends. One of her most beloved traditions was showing up super early Christmas morning just to watch her grandkids open their gifts. Those moments filled with excitement, laughter and love will forever remain precious memories.
Tara will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched and the beautiful memories she leaves behind.
