Obituary Notice
Carl Manford (Bud) Trump, age 90 yrs, of Marcellus passed peacefully away on Saturday, January 27, 2024 in Lawton, Michigan. He was born in Lake Village, IN on October 14, 1933 to Carl Paul Trump and Ila Mae (Biggers) Trump.
After high school, Carl joined the Navy and served as an Electrician’s Mate, EM2. He was stationed on the USS Intrepid (CVA-11) from 1953-1956. These were good years with many stories of the places he traveled to and the friends he made.
On October 20, 1957, Carl married Dorothy (Smith) Hagen and before she passed in 2013, he and Dorothy enjoyed many years of camping. After work on Friday, Carl and family were off to Pentwater State park for the weekend. Many other travels included most of Michigan including the UP, Maine, Kentucky and Tennessee. Later adventures included Scenic Arkansas, Florida and the Covered Bridge Festival throughout Indiana. A new male-bonding tradition started in the mid 1980’s: Male Fishing Time!!! So many yummy filets came home and the stories the grandsons heard were enlightening.
He worked for 18 years at the Greater Kalamazoo Auto Auction in Schoolcraft and before that Gar-V Mfg. in Three Rivers. He also enjoyed making beef jerky. While he always gave this tasty treat to family members for Christmas and birthdays, it became so well-known that others would call him to purchase it.
Patsy Kuhlman, a school acquaintance of Carl’s, became a very lovely addition to his and our lives. She made sure he had a busy social life and didn’t spend much time in his easy chair. Being a wonderful cook, she also supplied him with plenty of delicious food.
Needing more help, Carl moved to White Oaks in Lawton, MI and it was a perfect fit. We could all visit and there were not many activities that Carl didn’t attend. There were postings on Facebook and he was in most of them.
He was preceded in death by parents, his wife of 56 years Dorothy (Smith) Trump, two sisters Shirley Trump Schull and Alice Baker Englehart, and two brothers Max Trump and William Daill (Trump) Burnham and his dear brother-in-law/friend Clifford “Smitty” Smith.
Surviving to cherish his memory are special friend Patsy Kuhlman, his sister Virginia (Baker) King; son Craig (Beth) Hagen, grandson Christopher (Jenna) Hagen, great-granddaughter Suri and great-grandson Ford, grandson Matthew (Asia) Hagen, great-granddaughter Faye, great-grandson Ren; son Michael Timm (Susan) Trump, grandson Daniel (Caitlin) Trump, great-grandson Leon, great-granddaughter Isabel, granddaughter Carla (Gregory) Belanger, great-grandson Henry.
