Obituary Notice
Carolyn Jo Cook, 73, of Three Rivers, Michigan, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025.
Carolyn was born July 8, 1951, to Maurice and Henrietta Cook (deceased). She graduated from Mendon High School, attended Western Michigan University and Kalamazoo Valley Community College. She met her cherished best friend, Michael, at Glen Oaks Community College.
Carolyn was a talented singer and pianist. Her musical talents took her to Europe many times to perform with different choirs. She taught piano and voice throughout her life.
Carolyn served God in many ways. She was of the Methodist faith, last belonging to the First United Methodist Church of Three Rivers where she had recently retired a pianist. Carolyn worked at numerous and varied jobs including the American Kennel Club, Klines Resort, the Carnegie Center for the Arts, and the Three Rivers Community School District.
One of her most cherished ways to serve God was playing and singing for friends’ weddings and funerals.
She was an accomplished chef and enjoyed cooking for her friends. Carolyn especially loved Christmas. Her favorite movie was White Christmas. She was lovingly dubbed “The Christmas Queen” by her family.
Carolyn leaves behind several cousins and close friends and her best friend, Michael.

Deeply saddened to learn of the passing of a childhood bestie. We grew up running through yards and making music together, bonding as only children. She lived her life fully and is now making music in heaven. Condolences and prayers for those she leaves behind.
Carolyn graced us with her time and talent many years ago at the Mendon Kiwanis Showboat which benefitted so many young people in our area and was a reflection of her love and dedication to children.
Hope you’re dancing in the winter wonderland in the sky. Where you’re surrounded by loved ones and where it’s Christmas every day. I will always cherish our memories during those formative years in Women’s Chorus.
She will be missed. She was a wonderful pianist and she was loved by the community. The news of her passing does saddened me.
Whoa! So sad to hear. I loved her piano skills and her singing. You will be missed.

I’m so saddened by this but I’m glad you are at peace!! You helped me sing in many languages!! German being the hardest
. You were my adult choir support in that class room and I will forever appreciate and cherish you!! I’m so sad to hear of this news today. You are and were loved by so many people! Your voice was beautiful & your piano skills were something out of this world. I will never forget you saying Christmas was your favorite holiday so you made it a thing to be year round in your home. Rest in peace you beautiful soul

I was very much taken aback by the news of Carolyn’s death. My most vivid memories of her were of our singing in the Kalamazoo Oratorio Society under the direction of Jack Frey; as is recorded in her obituary, she truly was gifted in both instrumental and vocal music and it was inspirational to see her share both in ways which encouraged others. May God give her loved ones His Peace during this difficult time.
As a teen I was impressed by Carolyn’s many talents on piano and as a mezzo soprano. She encouraged me to sing with the Oratorio Society under Dr. Fry. That experience and the power of singing in a mass chorus continues to inspire me. Thank you, Carolyn, for inspiring so many. Hope I get to sing with you again in that big chorus over yonder.
I’m so heartbroken from this news. You always gave the best hugs and were loved by so many students, I always love talking about Christmas time with you and always looked forward to hearing or seeing what Christmas decorations you found.
Ms. Cook was one of the only things that kept me going in high school. She was not only my voice teacher but my school mom. She cared when no one else did, she didn’t care about spending extra time to make sure I got something or to make sure I talked about everything I needed to talk about. She was genuinely one of the kindest and most nurturing people I’ve ever met. I will always feel blessed to have gotten to know her.
I’m so heartbroken. You were loved by many, many students and touched the hearts of so many people. I’ll never forget my years with you, loved forever
Gosh i loved her. She was so nice, caring, and fun. Every time I walked into the classroom I looked for her so I can say hi and chat. Even though I didn’t see her after I graduated I’m gonna miss her.
I am deeply saddened to hear of Carolyn’s passing. We performed music together growing up in various churches. She was a close friend in those days. Carolyn, you are singing with the angels now.
