Obituary Notice
Claudia Elizabeth Lewis, 64, of Sturgis, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at her home.
She was born August 19, 1960 in Vicksburg, the youngest child of David G. and Ann R. (Cameron) Battishill.
Claudia graduated from Three Rivers High School with the Class of 1978, and went on to attend two years of college at Glen Oaks Community College, earning a degree in business.
In 2008, she married Richard Lewis, to whom she had been introduced by mutual friends. The couple lived on the river, where they enjoyed nature, watching river wildlife, and spending time around campfires. They shared a passion for football, especially the Chicago Bears.
Claudia loved animals – especially her beloved dog, Zippy – and crafting. Her angel ornaments, handmade from doilies, still decorate family members’ homes at Christmastime.
Remaining to cherish her memory are her sister, Cynthia (Jim) Hackenberg of Three Rivers; her brother, David (Barbara) Battishill of New York state; one nephew; two nieces; numerous great-nieces and nephews; great-great-nieces and nephews; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard, in 2016; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

I’m so sorry to hear about Claudia’s passing. I have many memories of childhood years as neighbors. My condolences to Cynthia and family. My thoughts and prayers for everyone.
I was very sorry to hear of her passing. I would have loved to reconnect with her. I lost track of her after high school. We had a lot of great times in school together. She was a beautiful soul.
