In accordance with family wishes, cremation will be conducted and a Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at the UAW Hall, 15802 Hoffman Rd., Three Rivers.

Obituary Notice

Dan Mourey, 69, of Three Rivers, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born August 14, 1953 in Rushville, Ind., the son of Frank O. and Mary A. (Springman) Mourey, and graduated from Rushville Consolidated High School with the Class of 1972.

Dan served his country in the United States Navy.

On December 21, 1973, he married Ellen York.

Dan worked for Pioneer as a shipping and receiving coordinator, retiring after 40 years. He served as a Director of the St. Joseph County Grange Fair, President of the Three Rivers Classic & Antique Restorers (C.A.R.) Club, a T-Ball President and coach in Rush County, Ind., and as a sergeant in the Three Rivers Police Department Reserves for 15 years. Dan enjoyed working on his classic cars and attending car shows and cruises.

Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife, Ellen Mourey; sons, Bryan (Amie) Mourey of Vicksburg and Nick (Robin) Mourey of Three Rivers; daughter, Christy (Chad) Wyatt of Portage; grandchildren, Drew, Kaiya, Emily, Lia, Braeden, Ally, Camden, and Jason; mother, Mary; brother, Frank Mourey.

Dan was preceded in death by his father and two sisters.

Donations in Dan’s memory may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Envelopes are available at Hohner Funeral Home.

    • Dan was a dedicated and passionate as an Aux. Officer and as a car enthusiast. He volunteered a lot of time at the PD and we were happy to have him.

    Dan was definitely the light in every spark of the moment @ Pioneer. He had a way of making a city guy like myself who had never been in a cornfield feel comfortable, He was a true blessing and for that alone I will always honor and appreciate our friendship.

  5. Dan will be dearly missed by the farm community. He was a huge part of our lives with raising seed corn for years here in Schoolcraft. Such a fun loving person to be around. Always made detasseling season interesting. Rest in peace friend.
