Obituary Notice
Delores Ardell “Dee” Grosskunze, 88, of Three Rivers, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Centrica Rose Arbor Place surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 18, 1937 in Vashti, N.D., the daughter of Jasper L. and Clara B. (Young) Mino, and graduated from Three Rivers High School with the Class of 1955.
Dee worked as a secretary/accountant to the librarian at Three Rivers Public Library for nearly three decades. She also took loving care of her special-needs son, to whom she was a caregiver in his later years.
She married classmate James Griffin Sr. in 1957. They had three children. They later divorced. She married Richard “Dick” Grosskunze in 1974.
Her favorite hobby was scrapbooking. She started saving things when she was in high school, including menus from restaurants like Chicken Charlie’s and the names of the friends she went with and what they ate. She made scrapbooks for herself, which included her parents and brother’s histories. (The scrapbooks came in handy as her dementia progressed.) She made many beautiful scrapbooks for her children and grandchildren and was always looking for more to make.
She loved her family and loved to babysit her grandchildren. She went to dance recitals and football games when she was able. She always celebrated the holidays at her house.
Remaining to cherish her memory are two sons, James Griffin and Daniel Griffin; daughter, Gayle (Phil) VanHeukelum; stepson, David (Jo) Grosskunze; stepdaughter, Diana (Ron) Mak; stepson-in-law, Doug Steffey; grandchildren, Allison VanHeukelum and Sara VanHeukelum; great-grandchildren, Dillyn VanHeukelum and Kaleb Stephens; step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Rollie Mino; and stepdaughter, Patricia Steffey.
