A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 817 Eighth St., Three Rivers, with Pastor Tony Bennett officiating.

Obituary Notice

Dorothy Lee Cook, 88, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at East Lake Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born February 10, 1937 in Dermott, Arkansas. She later lived in Chicago, Three Rivers, and most recently Elkhart, Ind. due to her decline in health.

Dorothy completed her GED in Three Rivers.

She enjoyed fishing, sewing, and arts and crafts – especially creating blankets. She decorated her home with finds from craft shows and Christian pictures. She was a wonderful cook, known especially for her cornbread dressing. She loved music, dancing, and family game nights; she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Dorothy attended Bethel Baptist Church, where she loved teaching children’s church, and later New Jerusalem Baptist Church, where she was president of the Usher Board.

Remaining to cherish her memory are her son, Del (Genine) Cook; daughters, Sandra (Tommie) Hayden and Linda (Marcus) Hopkins; grandchildren, Keith, Derek, Brandon, Nicole, Shawndel, Arielle, Adrienne, Cynthia, Amber, and LéTeshia “Pooh Bear”; great-grandchildren, Lyndel, Dalenté, Aiden, Bentlee, Alessia, Rayna, Jayden, Jordan, Orlon, Jackson, Tariq, Mya, Skye, Elaeus, Sarajia, Anthony, Malchiah, Anthony (Lamont), and Ezra; sister, Doris Moon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Bobby and Edward; and stepson, Otis.

Donations in Dorothy’s memory may be directed to East Lake Nursing & Rehabilitation Center Memory Care. Envelopes will be available at Hohner Funeral Home.

    Dorthy was s fun lady to be around back in the old days.

  2. My condolences and prayers go out to her family. I got the pleasure of being able to meet this wonderful woman through the COA in Three Rivers. She always greeted me with a smile.
