He was born November 9, 1949, in Russellville, Alabama, the son of Henry L. and Dorothy N. Jones.
Gary graduated from Highland High School with the Class of 1967. He then attended the Indiana College of Commerce studying business administration and also attended Purdue University.

Gary worked for 46 years in the family business started by his father, Maintenance Products Inc. & First Chain Supply alongside his brother, Randy, and sister, Glenda, managing the distributorship and overseeing marketing.
Gary was passionate about performing in community theater and murder mystery productions throughout his life. While participating in performing murder mysteries, he met fellow actress Michelle Verdeyen. Gary brought so much light and love into Michelle’s life, and they were married in 2007. Their relationship was a beautiful, unbreakable bond which was evident to everyone that had the privilege to know them. After retirement, Gary and Michelle moved to Three Rivers, Michigan, where they enjoyed many wonderful years together at their home on the St. Joseph River. Gary and Michelle were enthusiastic hosts sharing countless days with family and friends at their home enjoying family dinners, campfires, and boat rides with Grandpa Gary at the helm along with his beloved grandchildren.
Gary enjoyed playing guitar for his church praise and worship services, golfing, his cherished dogs Jackson and Ricky Bobby, fishing, along with buying, selling, and restoring vintage cast iron. He was very involved at Moorepark Community Church where he and Michelle participated in the worship team, served as deacons, and directed Christmas plays. He was always so welcoming to everyone at church, always spreading God’s love and light in everything he did.

What a tremendous loss! He and Michelle were such a dynamic and loving couple. He was always so nice to me and did a great job with the Moorepark drama ministry. He will be missed!
It has been our privilege to call Gary “family.” We have enjoyed every minute spent with him. So many ways to describe him, loving, caring, giving, supportive, talented, funny (hilarious actually), and the list goes on. He loved the Lord, Michelle, family and friends unconditionally. It is with heavy hearts that we must let him go, but we are sustained with the knowledge he is with our Lord and will enjoy everlasting peace. We love you Gary.
Oh my my heart is so sad. You two were one of the joys in life to be around! Meeting you at craft shows was the highlight of my show days! I remember thinking how you 2 people were that much in love that we all felt it!!!!
Our dinner at Tosis with him making fun the next day of my boot falling apart still makes me smile! Bless you sweet friend!
All of us loved our Gary–what a guy. I knew him since we were young and knew the great heart he had for God and his family. We appreciated and admired all his wonderful talents, warm personality, and when Michelle came into his life, everything was perfected. May God keep his hand on your shoulder, my friend. Sending all the love in our hearts to all of you.

He truly loved you, his family, friends and his Lord.
What can I say about a man that had a special smile that invited you in.
A man of honor with a true love for the Lord. His love for his wife, Michelle, was evident-written all over his face. I will truly missed this wonderful man. But he is enjoying His Lord now. We will see him again soon.
