Service Details
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Hohner Funeral Home, 1004 Arnold St., Three Rivers. Her funeral service will be held Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Three Rivers/Centreville, 320 N. Main St., Three Rivers with Pastor Brenda Deily officiating. She will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange, Indiana.
Obituary Notice
Ilene Lou Rosenberry, 92, of Three Rivers, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born December 25, 1931 in Wolcottville, Indiana, the daughter of Russell and Julia (Lambright) Iler, and graduated from LaGrange High School with the Class of 1950.
Pursuing her goal of becoming an elementary teacher, she earned her bachelor’s degree at Ball State and her master’s degree at Western Michigan University. She went on to teach for 24 years in Speedway and LaGrange, Indiana and at Barrows and Hoppin elementaries in Three Rivers. She loved the many children she taught over the years.
Ilene was active in the First Presbyterian Church of Three Rivers/Centreville, singing in the choir and serving as an elder. She was a part of the Michigan Retired Teachers’ Association and the Three Rivers Woman’s Club.
On June 15, 1985, she married Richard Rosenberry, whom she had known from her teenage years when they lived across the street. The couple enjoyed traveling all over the United States and Europe, with Jamaica a special favorite spot.
Ilene was a beautiful, amazing, kind woman who was always positive.
Remaining to cherish her memory are her husband, Richard Rosenberry; sons, William Russell (Kathleen) O’Brian of Portage, Matthew Scott (Joy) O’Brian of Hamilton, and Marc Stephan (Melinda) O’Brian of Howell; three grandchildren, Erin, Allison, and Luke; one great-grandson, Will; four stepchildren and spouses.
She was preceded in death by one son, Steven J. O’Brian.

Donations in Ilene’s memory may be directed to First Presbyterian Church of Three Rivers/Centreville. Envelopes will be available at the church and the funeral home.

Mrs. “O’Brien” was my kindergarten teacher at Hoppin ♥️. I saw her many times through the years and she always knew and called me by name. She will always be one of my favorites…Heaven gained a true Angel ♥️
Ilene was a kind and caring teacher at Hoppin. Always a smile of warmth and love for her students. Always so gracious. RIP Ilene..
Ilene was my second grade teacher and fellow member of first Presbyterian church. I’ll always remember her kindness and the comfort she provided reading to us in class. May her memory live in all those she touched. Rest in peace
