Obituary Notice
JoAnn Skytta, age 69, former Ishpeming resident & currently of Three Rivers, MI passed away on Monday, August 31, 2020 at Bronson Methodist Hospital from her short battle with cancer.
JoAnn was born in Marquette, MI on March 10, 1951 to the late Shirley (Rolstone) & Frank Budney.
JoAnn worked for many years at Congress Lounge & Pizza and Olson News before moving to the Lower Peninsula to be closer to her family.
Her hobbies included feeding the birds, gardening, and just being outdoors in nature. She enjoyed music, dancing, traveling, and meeting new people.
Most of all she loved spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.
She is survived by her four children, Patti (Johnny) Byrd of Phoenix, AZ, Tracy Niemi of White Pigeon, MI, Craig Skytta of Phoenix, AZ, and Amber (Kevin) Schorey of Athens, MI; one brother, Greg (Laurie) Budney of Milwaukee, WI; eight grandchildren, Jack Niemi Jr., Abby Niemi, Tucker Niemi, Jordyn Byrd, Zachary Byrd, Ryan Lapins, Austin Lapins, & Korbin Schorey; three great-grandchildren, Armani, Brayden, & Montrel (Fella).
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Frank G. Budney.

  1. I surely miss you so much my one and only true true friend!!! I’m so sad I never got to say goodbye to you!!! My heart hurts all the time. I just want to call you and have you on the other end to talk to I finally moved back home and you wouldn’t believe it I’m rite around the corner from your house we would have been so close I’m just so sad you couldn’t wait for me to get here I know if you could have you would have I miss you more then anything what id give to just have one more day to sit with you and laugh about our lives!! I’ll see ya on the other side j love ya more

  2. I’m gonna miss you terribly i know we had our differences but I knew I could come to you for anything and you would be there for me. We had many good times together look over me and the kids and I will see you again one day. Love always your daughter Tracy

  3. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. JoAnn was stubborn, funny, a hard worker, a great friend, and a fighter. She was a lot of fun to be around, a great listener, and a shoulder to cry on. She was a true friend to me at time when I really needed one. I will never forget her laugh and smile! She was a true blessing in my life and will be missed terribly!

  4. We’ll miss ya Jo Jo, We were honored to know and hung out with your family. Such good times we had. There was always fun going on from playing spades or listening to music. Every time I see a 2 liter bottle of Pepsi I think of you carrying around a cup of pepsi. You raised some great kids also we had some fun again miss ya and now your in a better place but, dont party to hard up there.

  5. My heart goes out to all of you! Joan was my very best friend no matter if we didn’t talk for a minute we’d pick up the phone and call each other and laugh like we’d never been apart!! I am sure gonna miss my sweet dear friend!! I love ya bigger then the skytta!! I’ll see you again this will never be our goodbye!! You’ll always be with me until we meet again.,. Get that party started girl I’ll be there soon enough!! Save me a seat on our big brown couch!!!
