Obituary Notice
John Charles Slocum, 83, passed away at his home on Saturday, August 9, 2025.
He was born March 6, 1942 in Three Rivers, the son of Carl L. and Isabelle R. (Hadley) Slocum, and graduated from Three Rivers High School with the Class of 1960.
John joined the United States Army in 1961 and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1963.
John was married to Gladys “Jean” Stauder on April 16, 1977 until her death in 2011.
John was a dedicated employee at Armstrong Machine Works for many years.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the American Legion. John loved sports, watching Michigan football, and he was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers, Lions and Pistons.
Remaining to cherish his memory are his sister-in-law, Kathleen Slocum; close friend Terry “Turbo” Moyer, nieces, Lori Lawson and Lynn Wetmore; and nephews, Thomas C. Wetmore and John Quinmore.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gladys “Jean” Slocum; brother, Carl “Bud” Slocum; and sister, Mary Jane Wetmore.
