Service Details
His family will receive friends Wednesday, December 17, 2025 from noon – 1:00 p.m. at Hohner Funeral Home, 1004 Arnold St., Three Rivers. Immediate burial will follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. A celebration of his life will be held in Spring of 2026.
Obituary Notice
Lon Preston, 75, of Three Rivers, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Beacon Kalamazoo.
He was born September 15, 1950 in Three Rivers, the son of Jack and Florence (Monit) Preston.
Lon graduated from Three Rivers High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business. He was self-employed as an accountant.
He served his country in the United States Army in South Korea.
Lon loved playing guitar, loved his dogs and cats, and collected knives, Volkswagens, and watches.
He was formerly a member of the VFW, Elks, Eagles, and 40/8, and was Director of the American Legion Riders.
Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife, Carol “Lynn” Johnson, whom he married May 1, 1976; daughters, Lórien Johnson, Lona Johnson-Preston, and Lorinda Johnson-Preston; granddaughters, Ashlan Johnson, Becca Johnson, Alyssa Preston, and Drew Anderson; great-grandsons, Kohen Bennett and Ky’Aire Johnson-Smith; sister, Michelle “Mo” Stienbarger and brother-in-law Dave Stienbarger.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Nathanial Johnson; sister, Sharon (Preston) Bowen; and brother, Rick Preston.

Donations in Lon’s memory may be directed to his family in care of Lynn Johnson. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
