Obituary Notice
Mary Ann Brown, age 86, of Three Rivers passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Bowman Place, Three Rivers. She was born on June 27, 1932 in Louisville, KY the daughter of Joseph and Onnor (Burkholder) Barnes.
Mary Ann received her Registered Nurse Degree from St. Anthony’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. Mary Ann worked at the Three Rivers Area Hospital for over 40 years. She worked the floor, surgery and the emergency room. In 1954 she met the love of her life in Louisville KY at Fort Knox on Kentucky Derby Weekend. Harry had been asked to help with security at the Derby instead of taking the weekend off. He then met Mary Ann at a dance following the derby. The famous line was after they danced, he said “thanks anyway.” He didn’t think she had much rhythm. But obviously she caught his eye and they became great partners when dancing and in life. They spent many great years at Knights Key Campground in Marathon FL and made many friends throughout all their camping experiences.
Mary Ann spent the last 19 months as a resident at Bowman Place in Three Rivers and her family thanks all the caregivers there for their kindness.
She was preceded in passing by husband, Harry Brown Jr., daughter, Roseanne (Brown) Garrison and granddaughter Candice Romig. Her parents and all her siblings, Babe, Mary Rose, Jane, Rita, and Bob.
Mary Ann leaves to cherish her memory son, Harry J. (Sandy) Brown III, of Three Rivers; daughter Harriett (Jeff) Romig of Three Rivers. Grandchildren, Eric Garrison, Lyndsey (Garrison) Roggelien, Amanda (Romig) Foster, Jessica (Romig) Dorzinsky, Andrew Romig, Roxanne Brown and Joshua Brown. Along with 11 great grandchildren.

Please Leave Your Condolences
When your condolences are submitted they will not display until approved by the Hohner staff for appropriateness out of respect for their memory. They should appear within 24 hours or less. Thank you for your understanding
My family, Olga and Ed Stermer knew the Browns for many years and enjoyed camping with them in the summer. Mary Ann and Harry were delightful people who I became acquainted with through my parents. I also joined the group on camping trips years ago. When my mom was in Bowman house, Mary Ann visited her regularly and would take her shopping and to the beauty parlor. She was a kind and generous friend and I really appreciated her kindness.
Harriett, Jeff, Harry J and Sandy,
Leonard and I so enjoyed talking and joking with your mom. She had such a great sense of humor.
Our thoughts and prayers of comfort are with you and your families. God Bless,
Harriett, Jeff, Harry J and Sandy,
She was so loved, and will be missed, by all whose lives were blessed by her touch! Love and prayers from all of your Kentucky family,
Leah
