A memorial mass will be held on Friday, September 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, 332 State St., Mendon, with Msgr. Tom Martin as celebrant.
Obituary Notice
Mary Jo Murphy, 75, of Sturgis, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2022 at her home.
She was born November 23, 1946 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Bruno A. and Lucille (Loszach) Satkus.
Mary Jo graduated from Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights, IL. Her working career began as a teller at Bremen Bank in Tinley Park, IL, where she rose through the ranks to become a vice president/loan officer.
On September 3, 1966, she married Edward Murphy. While raising their family in Illinois, they purchased a summer home at Lake Templene, where they eventually moved full-time and retired.
Mary Jo enjoyed cooking and gardening, and loved landscaping.
Remaining to cherish her memory are her son, Patrick Murphy; daughter, Colleen (Derrick) Holl; grandchildren, Tyler, Ryan and Kaleigh Holl; brother, David (Mariam) Satkus; many nieces and nephews.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward, on July 20, 2021; and by her brother, Thomas Satkus.
