Obituary Notice

Mary Marie Boling, 91, of Constantine, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024 at Edgewood Health & Rehabilitation in Three Rivers.

She was born January 4, 1933, in Porter Township, the daughter of Clarence L. and Ertah (Clark) Reames, and graduated from Constantine High School with the Class of 1951.

Mary worked at the A&P Grocery Store in Three Rivers stocking and cashiering until it closed and going to Benton Harbor and then Stadium Drive. It was there she and several employees worked thru the Blizzard of 1978 to stay open for any customer able to brave the snow.

On March 23, 1973 she married Robert Boling. Together they enjoyed living by the water, gathering with family and camping in the early years. Later in life they purchased a place up North in Irons. Here they enjoyed relaxing and exploring the countryside. Eventually they decided to move to Tennessee where they continued to explore the countryside. They always had a unique place to take you to see when you visited them.

Mary was always active. She enjoyed working and tending to her flowerbeds and moving her flowers and plants wherever they lived. She learned how to paint, creating many special pieces which she would give to family and friends. Never one to just do only one thing, she started cross-stitching and then followed up by learning to basket weave. She excelled at both hobbies by creating spectacular matted framed cross-stitch pictures and thousands of baskets. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts and going to craft shows where she would sell her baskets to make enough earnings to purchase more supplies to make more baskets.

Remaining to cherish her memory are her daughter, Lou Ann (Robert) McClain of Marcellus; granddaughters, Schantel Myers, Christina Taulbee, and Kylie Rice.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; son, Richard Rumsey; sister, Ruth Dieterman; and brothers, Leo Reames and Dean Reames.

  1. I took Mary meals from the Constantine Soup Kitchen for several years. It was a privilege to know her. She was quite an artist. Weaving baskets and cross stitch. She would show me her projects she was working on. She loved Lemon Meringue Pie and I would take a piece from time to time.
