Service Details
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 10th, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Hohner Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, May 10th, 2018 starting at 2:30 p.m. at The Immaculate Conception Church of Three Rivers, MI with Father Antony Rajesh officiating. Interment will be held at Peek Cemetery following the Funeral Mass.
Obituary Notice
Muriel Briody Nykun, age 96, of Three Rivers, MI passed away May 5th, 2018 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. She was born September 12th, 1921 in Paterson, NJ at St. Joseph Hospital to Dr. Henry Edward and Edna Muriel Mason Briody.
Muriel married John T. Nykun on June 18th, 1953 at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Clifton, NJ. Together they had five daughters: Pamela (Phil) Hoffine, Elise Lindberg of Three Rivers, the late Suzanne (Kim) Hubbard, Lorraine Nykun of Rockford, MI, and Carla (Randall) Payne of Ooltewah, TN.
Muriel was preceded in death by John T. Nykun and daughter, Suzanne.
She is survived by her daughters and eight grandchildren: Nicole (Lindberg) Diffendal, Erik Lindberg, Jonathan (Kayley) Hubbard, Jared Hubbard, Joseph Hubbard, Rachael Payne, Erika Payne, and Andrew Payne; and six great-grandchildren.
Muriel graduated from Benedictine Academy in Paterson, NJ and College of St. Elizabeth in Morristown, NJ. Muriel also attended Montclair State College in Montclair, NJ and was just short of earning her Master’s degree.
Prior to marriage, Muriel taught high school in Paterson, NJ at both Central and Eastside High School.
Muriel belonged to Garden Club, the Women’s Club, and a few Bridge Clubs. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Memorial donations can be made to The Three Rivers Community Foundation c/o The John T. Nykun Scholarship or the Volunteer Firefighters of The Fabius-Lockport Park Fire Department. Envelopes are available at Hohner Funeral Home.
