Obituary Notice

Norma Jean (Tackaberry) Arnett, 81, of Three Rivers, passed into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior on Monday, March 6, 2023 at Birch Meadows Senior Living with her family by her side.

She was born April 30, 1941 in Three Rivers, the daughter of Loran and Beatrice (Riggs) Tackaberry. She graduated from Three Rivers High School with the Class of 1959.

On May 1, 1960, Norma married Lee Arnett. The couple shared nearly 56 years of marriage before his passing in December 2015. Through the years they enjoyed traveling to different places throughout the country. After their retirements they particularly enjoyed traveling to Punta Gorda, Florida for the winter in their motor home.

Norma worked for the Three Rivers Community School system for 28 years. She took a position as a bus driver for the school so that she could spend time with her children while they were out of school for summer breaks and holidays. She would later add to her duties the position of secretary in that department before moving up to Supervisor of transportation. She loved the roles she undertook and especially the children and her co-workers.

Norma was a kind and loving soul. Her smile and the twinkle in her eyes lit up the room. She had the patience and kindness of a saint. When her children were young, she was also a 4-H leader and an EMT for the Three Rivers ambulance service.

Throughout the years she had many hobbies and could tackle any task. Woodcrafting, flower gardening, crocheting, needle point, sewing, or working in the yard, just to name a few. She always stayed busy doing something. There was no time to sit idle.

She bowled for many years on the Monday night ladies bowling league and was an avid golfer all of her life. After retirement she could be spotted on the golf course several days a week.

Norma was a member of the Three Rivers Eagles #2303 acquiring Golden Eagle status. She was also a member of the Three Rivers Classic & Antique Restorers (C.A.R.) Club. Their 1973 Ford Mustang convertible being her favorite classic they owned.

Remaining to cherish her memory are her son, Robert “Bob” (Mindy) Arnett; daughter, Theresa “Teri” (Tom) Wilkins; grandchildren, Jessica Arnett (Ellery Doolen), Margaret (Kevin) Dick; Rachel (Ryan) Avery, Devin Wilkins, and Joshua (Sarah) Wilkins; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Geller. And many loved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee; brothers, Tommy, Maurice, and James “Jimmy” Tackaberry; sisters, Joan Tackaberry and Nancy Wilcox.
