Service Details
Visitation will be held Friday, April 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 817 Eighth St., Three Rivers. A funeral service will follow at noon at the church. She will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.
Obituary Notice
Shirley Ruth Shelton, 73, of Kalamazoo, passed away Friday, April 8, 2022 at Ascension Borgess Hospital.
She was born January 2, 1949 in Plantersville, Alabama, the daughter of Thomas and Christine (Harville) Shelton.
A longtime resident of Three Rivers, she worked as an administrative assistant for Hydra-Matic and for General Motors, from which she retired in 2006.
Shirley enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was soft spoken, very polite, and always open to new friends and fellowships.
Remaining to cherish her memory are a son, Jermaine Alton (Isabela) Robinson; two grandchildren, Isaiah Maurice Robinson and Sophia Miranda-Correia Robinson; sisters, Doris Rollerson of Chicago, Ill. and Willastyne (Sterling) Carter of Elkhart, Ind.; sisters-in-law, Mary Shelton of Newton, Ms. and Lorraine Shelton of Three Rivers, Mi; brother-in-law, Coy Whitten Sr. of Three Rivers, Mi.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Christine; a son, Billy Altonia Robinson Jr.; brothers, George Shelton and Thomas Shelton; sisters, Odessa Mitchell, Geraldine Humes, Iverna Shelton, Velma Whitten and Oretha Shelton; brothers-in-law, Ralph Humes, Harvey Rollerson, and Sterling Carter.

It was a true pleasure getting to know Shirley better in the last few years. She had such a kind and loving soul. I am sending my love, prayers and thoughts to the family.
I have always thought so fondly of Shirley, such a beautiful person, inside and out. We were neighbors for many years over on Washington St in Three Rivers in which we all became more like family. We shared many laughs and I have many memories to cherish. She and Mom are with Jesus now flashing those beautiful smiles. Jermaine and entire Robinson/Shelton family, may God strengthen you. My love and sympathy go out to you.
