Service Details

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 30, 2020 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at Hohner Funeral Home. A funeral service will be Monday, August 31, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. at Light and Life Wesleyan Church, 15765 Hoffman Road, Three Rivers, with Pastor Sam Maddox officiating. Interment will be in Prairie River Cemetery. The funeral will be livestreamed here.

Obituary Notice

Tonya Ann (Hofmeister) Swanwick of Centreville passed away at home on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 surrounded by family following a 7 1/2 year battle with brain cancer. She was 45. She was the daughter of John and Sandy (Wheeler) Hofmeister.

After graduating high school from Centreville in 1993, Tonya earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Phoenix. Tonya worked 20 years at American Axle in Three Rivers, where she was passionate about her job and respected by her coworkers. She married Paul Swanwick in June 2001. Together they have 4 children: Morgan (16), Tyler (16), Mathew (13) and Brayden (10). Tonya enjoyed going to all of her children’s sporting events.

Tonya was preceded in death by her grandparents, Harold and Lillian Hofmeister and Charles and Marguerite Wheeler. She is survived by her husband; four children; her parents; her brother, John (Lisa) Hofmeister of White Pigeon; mother-in-law, Norma Swanwick; in-laws, David (Candice) Swanwick, Mary (Phil) Webb, Kathryn Gleaton, Matt (Lyndsay) Swanwick; and her 13 nieces and nephews.

Additional Information

Donations may be made to a college fund for the children c/o Paul Swanwick. Envelopes are available at Hohner Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

  2. Truly sorry for your loss. I worked with Tonya at AAM for 6 years. She was such a strong person and a fighter. I hope you find some peace in knowing she is no longer in pain or having to fight and is now watching over you all. My deepest sympathies.

  5. I was friends with Tonya’s mom to start. I ended up working with Tonya and her Mom at AAM. She was the smartest, spunkiest and funny person that anybody would love to work with. My heart is truly broken and saddened at the loss of such a special person. She was a fighter for sure. She will be greatly missed.

  6. To Paul and your precious kids, I am so sorry. Tonya was such a beautiful person in the inside and on the outside. It was a privilege to be a small part of her life. I will never forget her strength and yet how effortlessly she was able to run. it was beautiful to watch. The power she had as she spiked the volleyball and her ability to block almost everything that came her way. Her beautiful smile and her desire to work hard at everything she did. She loved all of you with a passion and she is so proud of you. I am praying for all of you, praying that you will seek the strength you need right now from God, who welcomed her with open arms.   7. Please accept our sincere condolences. It is tragic when a young person is stricken. She fought the cancer for a long time but now she can rest. My wife and I know about brain cancer and have sympathy for the entire family.
