Obituary Notice
Vivian Joan Blasius, 84, of Three Rivers, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Safe Haven Assisted Living.
She was born October 6, 1936 in Exeter, Nebraska the daughter of Wayne and Eva (Deary) Rice.
Vivian graduated from Three Rivers High School with the class of 1954, and later worked at Andrews Elementary as a lunch teacher’s aide. She made many friends and absolutely loved working with the children.
On May 12, 1954 she married her high school sweetheart, David Blasius. The couple enjoyed playing golf together and going to Disney World – where their children weren’t sure which one was the bigger kid!
Loved by everyone, but very stubborn too, Vivian had quite a personality!
Her family was her greatest joy. She loved Christmas and spoiling her grandchildren; she always made sure everyone had something under the tree. She loved going out for breakfast (which always consisted of coffee and toast), watching birds at the many feeders she set out for them year-round, and puttering around with her gardens.
Remaining to cherish Vivian’s memory are two sons, Gerald and David Blasius; two daughters, Linda (John) Miller and Mary (Ben) Baker; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Lloyd Rice and Robert “Earl” Rice; sisters, Sylvia Lobato, Shala Smith and Dede Braun.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband of 65 years.
Additional Information
Donations in Vivian’s memory may be directed to the Dementia Society of America or to Safe Haven Assisted Living. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
