Cremation has taken place and private graveside committal services will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Three Rivers with Pastor James Smith officiating.

Obituary Notice

Dorothy Levon Byers, 96, of Three Rivers, passed away Friday, June 4, 2021 at Heartland Health Care Center.

She was born October 31, 1924 in Constantine the daughter of Percy and Helen (Lublow) Oswalt, and graduated with Three Rivers High School’s Class of 1942.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and held many positions there over the years.

A bookkeeper by trade, she worked 21 years at Wells Manufacturing and 23 years at Starks Excavating, before vision problems led to her retirement in 2013 at the age of 88.

She is survived by two sons, Ronald (Joy) Byers and Steven (Jill) Byers; five grandchildren, Thomas (Amber) Byers, Jamie Byers, Jeremy Byers, Kim (Darin) Stone and Amanda (Jeremy) Warne; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty (Clell) Barker; two sisters-in-law, Carol Byers and Sandra Adams; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one grandchild; her parents; two brothers, Winton and William Oswalt; two sisters, Jeanette North and Nancy Mansmith; five brothers-in-law, Don North, Floyd, Robert, William and Walter Byers; one sister-in-law, Lorna Walters.

Additional Information

Donations in Dorothy’s memory may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church or the charity of one’s choice. Envelopes are available at Hohner Funeral Home in care of her arrangements.

  2. Rest in Peace Dorothy, I worked with her at Wells Mfg and knew her well. She was very efficient in her job. She had two very nice sons and I want to offer my most sincere condolences to her family.

      • My dad worked with Dorothy at Wells. Dorothy always baked cookies for us. Chatted with her over the years about my dad and mom to her at Starks, where I had storge at. She will be missed. My condolences to the family.

        • My deepest condolences to the Byers family. I knew Dorothy through both of her sons. Both great guys. Spent a lot of time there while in high school. Cherish your memories.
