Obituary Notice

Edith “Sarah”  Hooker was born on July 6, 1923, to the late Edith Mary and Earl Logan Lambert in Dakota, Illinois. While attending Carthage College she met her future husband, Robert L. Hooker, also a student. Upon Bob’s ordination as a Lutheran pastor, the then married couple moved to San Francisco, CA. It was the beginning of an adult life full of curiosity, travel ( 50 + countries ), and adventure ( bungee jumping in her 70s ). Sarah was known for her deep faith, love of family and friends, playfulness and zest for living. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and infant son, Robert Lambert Hooker. She leaves behind her son, Ronald, of Three Rivers, MI, and daughter, Renny, and Son-in-love, Glenn Gambrill of Whitetop, VA. Sarah died on Sept. 5, 2019, leaving a grief stricken family but joins the church eternal in which she so strongly believed.

  1. In the early 1990s Sarah provided me with an abundant amount of information on the descendants of William and Mary Seibert of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania. They were her great grandparents. She was most generous in providing helpful information. I owe her many thanks!

    • Love and prayers. The few times I got to be around Sara she always sharing a smile. A trate she passed to Renee and I feel blessed to have these smiles in my heart. God Bless Love You Renee my sweet friend.

    • I have been blessed by having you and your family in my life. God really knew what he was doing when he had you come to Epiphany Lutheran church. So many years, so many memories. Makes my heart joyful that you are with Pastor Hooker and all those who knew and loved you too. I wonder if there was a Tarzan call when you reached the gates, I love to think there was!
