Obituary Notice

Edward James Schwartz, 70, of Three Rivers, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Borgess Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

He was born October 19, 1953 in Geneva, Indiana, the son of Melvin and Caroline (Schwartz) Schwartz, and graduated from Colon High School with the Class of 1972.

Ed worked with his father, a builder, learning the trade, and in the late 1970s started Michiana Builders. After a period of time living in Texas he returned to Michigan, where he and his brothers formed Ed J. Schwartz Construction.

In 1972, he married Sharon Yoder. Together, they enjoyed camping, fishing, scuba diving, and attending church and many other activities. He also enjoyed hunting with his father-in-law for many years.

Ed was a family man – if he had family, he was content. A very giving and helpful person, he could see a need when no one else did, and was the first to meet it. He was a very strong person who stood for what he believed.

Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife, Sharon Schwartz; sons, Jason (Heather) Schwartz and Lance Schwartz; daughter, Shaunna (Elton) Hackenberg; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; siblings, Cheryl, Carol, Brenda, Ron, Len, Valerie, and Kip.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons, Curtis Currier and Austin Schwartz.

Additional Information

Donations in Ed’s memory may be directed to his family in care of Sharon Schwartz. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and at the church.
