Service Details

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2020 at the Hohner Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2020 at the Hohner Funeral Home with Pastor Larry McKay and Matthew Erdos officiating.

Interment will be held in Flowerfield Cemetery with Military Honors under the auspices of the American Legion Hice-Shutes Post #170.

 

Obituary Notice

Ernest Thomas Erdos Sr., age 82, of Three Rivers, went peacefully to be with his Lord surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Grace Healthcare. Ernie was born on January 5, 1938 in Hammond, LA, the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Bruzcka) Erdos.

Mr. Erdos proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon returning home Ernie began trade school where he became a Master Electrician working for HPM Corporation and later owned and operated E/Z-lectric.

On August 10, 1959 Ernie married the love of his life Mrs. Barbara Jean Arnold. Ernie loved everything Cowboy, shooting, fishing and all outdoor activities. He was a faithful member of the Spirit of Truth Church and loved gospel music and singing.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife of sixty years, Barbara Jean Erdos, four beloved sons, Ernest T. (Diane) Erdos Jr., David E. Erdos, Robert C. (Stacy) Erdos, and Homer W. (Julie) Lawson; one brother, Andrew (Linda) Erdos, three sisters, Ann (Ed) Koman, Grace (Ed) Rosen, and Margaret Cain; many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be donated to the Spirit of Truth Church. Envelopes available at the funeral home.

  1. Ermie, not sure if I ever met your dad but as you know, I know a lot of the other parts of the family. Sorry for your loss brother. If there’s anything Tina and I can do just let us know. Won’t be able to make it to the funeral due to work but my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

  2. I’m very sorry to here that Ernie has passed. He was my dads “partner in crime” for a short while when my dad, Bill Zuzanek was his roommate at Grace. May God comfort you all at this difficult time.

  3. My condolences to friends and family of Ernie. I met Ernie at a yard sale he hosted years ago on River Heights Drive, discovered we’d worked in the same factory for a while but hadn’t met, and discovered we had a mutual friend named Jay who was also at the sale. Years later, when I purchased that same piece of property, Ernie was very kind in helping me to locate buried wire and other points of interest on the property.

    • Barbie, a sad time but a rejoicing time because of Jesus. He is free from the troubles and chains of this world. And a reunion is coming one day. So glad you could be with him when he went home. Love & prayers.

    • Barb, I am sorry for your loss I have memories of traveling with you and Ernie to Wisconsin to grandma Tenjum’s funeral. I send you my sympathy and prayers in your loss, our Lord will heal your aching heart. I’m sorry I don’t do well with keeping up with everyone.

  5. My sincerest condolences to you my dear Aunt Barb, and my cousins Ernie jr., David, and Bobby. Some of my happiest moments were spent with you all. God bless you and keep you in his loving arms. Every time I saw you guys Uncle Ernie’s was the first one to run up to me and pick me up and swing me around and hug me.
