Service Details

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019 at the Hohner Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4th, 2019 at the Newberg Baptist Church, 13021 Born St., Jones, MI.49061 with Pastor Mike Owen officiating.
Interment will be held in Poe Cemetery following services.

  

Obituary Notice

Mrs. Frances “Fran” Reya DeKilder, age 68, of Marcellus, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, August 29th, 2019 at the Bronson Methodist Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on Sept. 14th, 1950 in Elkhart, IN., the daughter of the late Kenneth Paul and Janice Mae Heffner.

On June 15, 1970 Frances married the love of her life, Mr. Steve Lyle DeKilder. Together they made their home in St. Joseph County and raised three beloved children, Freya Fountain, of Three Rivers; Stephen DeKilder Jr., of Three Rivers, and Scott (Sanae) DeKilder, of Arizona; one brother, Steven Heffner, of Sturgis, MI.; eight adored grandchildren, Travis, Kenny, and Lukas DeKilder, Darian and Noah, Tim, Paige, and Beth Fountain; one great-granddaughter, Paislee DeKilder.  She also leaves behind in-laws, Gail (Tom) Stockdale, Deke (Helen) DeKilder, Joan Gonzales, Gary (Carla) DeKilder, and David (Sandy) DeKilder.

Her true love was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchild. She was a faithful and active member of Newberg Baptist Church and formerly Three Rivers Bible Church where she made many costumes and crafts for church and Bair Lake Bible Camp events. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

  1. Sorry to Fran’s Family for the loss of a Wonderful Godly Women… Fran will be greatly missed by many people. Her Smile was so Beautiful and you just knew that she was a Sweet Lady. Her love for the Lord truly shown in all she did. May she rest well in the arms of our Lord, he has a Special Angel now. Keeping Steve and the family in our thoughts and prayers and may the Lord give all of you grace and strength for the days ahead.

  2. Sally Slpress’s words have already expressed so beautifully what is in our hearts. Fran was a real “lady.” We think maybe God shared some of His love for all of us through her eyes and her smile. We send our sympathy to Fran’s loved ones. We’ll miss her, too.

  3. Fran was a Beautiful, Godly Woman and a very loving friend to me and my family. She will be remembered for her great kindness, cheerful demeanor, contagious smile and laughter and whit! She was so full of the life that God had given her. It is our prayer that the family may be encouraged in remembering that fullness and the one whom gave it to her! You will all be in our thoughts and prayers.
