Service Details

His family will receive friends Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Hohner Funeral Home, 1004 Arnold St., Three Rivers. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Derl Keefer officiating.

Obituary Notice

Garrett Alan Miller, 81, of Three Rivers, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Kairos Dwelling in Kalamazoo.
He was born June 17, 1943 in Kalamazoo, the son of Lawrence and Sarah (Garnaat) Miller. Raised in his childhood home at 427 Centre Ave., Portage, he graduated from Portage Central High School with the Class of 1963.
Garrett did janitorial work at Portage Public Schools and worked at the Celery Flats. He spent 20 years as a dedicated employee at Essex Manufacturing and later held a series of part-time jobs.
On July 24, 1965, he married Linda Rishel; they shared 57 years together before her passing in August 2022.
Garrett could frequently be found at car shows, where his 1971 Buick Riviera received many trophies! He also enjoyed bowling in Three Rivers at South Lanes. A tremendous baseball and basketball fan, he loved the Detroit Tigers and the Notre Dame Irish.
His family will always remember his wisecracks and sense of humor.
Remaining to cherish his memory are his son, Garrison “Sonny” Miller; daughter, Kathleen (Terry) Kutz; grandchildren, Ian “Ash”, Brock, McKenzie, Nicole (Joe), Bryanna (Kyle), Terra (Justin); great-grandchildren, Joslyn, Charlyse, Joey, Kylee, Bryan, Addison, and Taysom; sister, Linda Lee; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and his beloved cat Charlie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda Miller; sisters, Elaine and Helen; brothers, Chuck, Wesley, and Vernon.

Donations in Garrett’s memory may be directed to Kairos Dwelling. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Gonna miss Garrett with his captains hat and his uncle Sam hat at the car shows, I know he hadn’t been able to get to him the last few years, but he always made a point to stop by joke around with me, whether it was at a car show or whether it was at Hardings to his family and loved ones you have my deepest, heartfelt condolences and you are in my thoughts and prayers

  4. We remember Garrett from when we attended the same church. He had such a friendly personality and yes, a great sense of humor. He and Linda made a good team, as she was just as friendly.

    • Kathy, so sorry for the loss of your dad. After we just talked at the store. Its so strange to think that we are the older generation now. At least our parents are back with their spouses now, together again.
