Service Details

A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Hohner Funeral Home, 1004 Arnold St., Three Rivers, with Mike King officiating. A video of the service is available here. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Obituary Notice

Gary W. Orr, 87, of Three Rivers, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2022 at ProMedica Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation.

Born February 14, 1935 in Three Rivers, the son of Glenn and Marjorie (Warner) Orr, he graduated from Three Rivers High School with the Class of 1953.

He worked as a tool and die maker at Precision Tooling, Three Rivers Tool and Engineering, Whitehead Tool and Die, and at XL Machine, from which he retired in 1997.

A dedicated fireman, he served on the Lockport-Fabius-Park Township Fire Department for twenty years. He served in the National Guard Company B 246, U.S. Army, and in the Coast Guard. He was a member of the Elks, the Eagles, the Three Rivers Classic and Antique Restorers (C.A.R.) Club and the St. Joseph Valley Boat Club, and took pride in belonging to Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.

He loved dogs, especially his beloved Abby and Cooper.

Remaining to cherish his memory are two daughters, Vickie (Richard Long) Orr and Pamela (Andy) Zagon; grandchildren, Melissa (Arnie) Kohler and Chelsea Zagon; great-grandchildren, Devon Kohler, Ashton Powers and Liam Collins; lifelong friends, Joe Kozik, Harold Lane and Terry Murphy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary L. Orr; son, Glenn F. Orr; sisters, Esther Polmanteer and Ruth Mills; brother, Steven James Orr; lifelong friend, John Gearhart.

Donations in Gary’s memory may be directed to Ark Animal Rescue & Adoption. Envelopes are available at Hohner Funeral Home in care of his arrangements.

  1. My condolences on the loss of your father. He and my dad (Chuck Welburn) were close friends growing up – just one of the things they had in common was their shared birth date. I remember Dad talking about how the doctor went from one house to the other, delivering them both on Valentine’s Day. Just one of the many stories Dad told of growing up with Gary, and John Gearhart. I’m sure Dad, Gary, and John had a fun reunion!
