Per Gary’s wishes, cremation will take place and a private service will be held at a later date in Schoolcraft Cemetery where Gary and Janie will be laid to rest.

Obituary Notice

Gerald “Gary” Rodney Vedmore, age 73, of Three Rivers, passed away peacefully late Nov. 29, 2020 at Rose Arbor Hospice Facility in Kalamazoo. He was born on Feb. 8, 1947 in Vicksburg, MI., the son of the late Clarence Willard and Josephine Marie (Hotchkiss) Vedmore.

On Oct. 15, 1965 Gary married the love of his life Janie (Manwarren) Vedmore. Together they made their home in Three Rivers and Gary began work at Armstrong Machine Works where he eventually became a supervisor for many years before retiring. Gary and Janie raised three beautiful children who were active in sports, academics, and social groups. Gary was very proud and never missed an opportunity to cheer on his children.

Mr. Vedmore was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Janie, a beloved son, Jeffrey Vedmore, and a sister-in-law, Diane Vedmore.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory two beloved daughters, Laura (Pete) Pressly and Lisa (Michelle) Vedmore-Lacy; three beloved grandsons, Alex and Austin Schirk and Aaron Vedmore; one great-grandson, Landon Vedmore; one brother, Willard Vedmore; three sisters, Bea (Ray) Gough, Connie (Ron) Gilbert, and Neva Kanaar, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

  1. I took care of Gary for a number of years when he was with us at Riverview Manor. Condolences to the family. He loved playing his music and was always joking with the staff. I will always remember Gary.

    • I remember both Janie and Gary from my time at Andrews Elementary School in Three Rivers. Both were wonderful people! I am very sorry for your father’s passing now and your mother’s passing years ago. Peaceful thoughts are being sent your way
