Obituary Notice

Geraldine Emily Lawrence, age 93, of Three Rivers passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019 at her daughter’s home in Three Rivers.  She was born in Wasepi, MI on September 18, 1925 to John and Rosa M. (Barnes) Favorite.

Geraldine graduated from South Haven High School in 1943.  She worked in a bakery during her senior year, then went to a defense plant after graduation where she made gun stocks during WW2. Shortly after she was united in marriage to John L. Lawrence on September 23, 1945. Together they raised four children and made Michigan their home.

Her grandfather taught her to play the violin at age 11, and she played continuously until Nov. 2018 when her health started to fail. She never missed a Sunday playing in whatever church she was attending at the time, sometimes being the only one in the church orchestra.

She loved puzzles, doing crossword puzzle books and Sudoku every day in addition to a few games on the computer.  There was always a jigsaw puzzle in progress on the table.  Her daughter has preserved many of them to pass on to her descendants.

She loved her family very much and crocheted an afghan for every grandchild and great-grandchild.

She belonged to the Corey Church of the Nazarene at the time of her death, and in prior years she did many jobs in the churches she attended such as janitor, Sunday School teacher and secretary.

She was preceded in passing by her parents, husband, John Lawrence in 2012, one son, Gary Lawrence in 2017, two sisters, son-in-law, Ken Jasper, and granddaughter, Tina Jasper.

Surviving to cherish Geraldine’s memory are daughter, Karen Leone Jasper; sons, Kenneth Alan (Kathy) Lawrence and Dennis Earl Lawrence; seventeen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
