Obituary Notice
Gregory Keith Swartz, 53, of Three Rivers, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born January 22, 1971 in Dowagiac, the son of Keith Swartz and Mattie (Rains) Beischl, and graduated from Marcellus High School with the Class of 1989. Greg enjoyed football and was very social in his younger years.
Greg proudly served his country as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps. Greg was awarded National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal w/ 1*, Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, and Humanitarian Service Medal.
He worked at Walmart and Home Depot. Spent many years building custom conversion vans/limos. Also including the infamous “Whale Buses” with Ameritrans. Something he was always proud of being part of.
Greg loved to read, hang out with family/friends, playing video games with his kids/grandkids, politics, and being antagonistic.
He was a one-of-one person. Had a unique personality; may have come off cold to some, but had a huge heart. He was facetious and quick witted, but was always with a loving/playful intent. Family was a big part of his life, especially in his later years.
Remaining to cherish Greg’s memory are his children, Blake Swartz, Brittney Swartz, Courtney Swartz, and Kayla Swartz; grandchildren, Janessa, Denver, Thea, Micah, Jaydan, Kameron, Kylie, Jade, and Scarlett; brother, Jerry Swartz; sister, Tory Madinger; Along with many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.
He was preceded in death by his Parents Keith Swartz and Mattie (Rains) Beischl: sister Sheryl Swartz.

Semper Fi Brother!
I was honored to have served with Greg in Iraq. He, Schilling and MacNeil made up the elite “Secret Squirrels” group of our unit. He was always good humored, intelligent and dependable: a damned good Marine. It saddens me to see his life cut so short far too soon. My prayers are with his family, friends and the Brothers who served with us. Keep those streets guarded up there until we can meet again, my Brother!
As we lose another fellow warrior on this earth, I am comforted by the3rd verse of our Marine Corps Hymn.
Here’s health to you and to our Corps
Which we are proud to serve;
In many a strife we’ve fought for life
And never lost our nerve;
If the Army and the Navy
Ever look on Heaven’s scenes;
They will find the streets are guarded
By United States Marines.”
So go before us my brother, Don your blues, take your rightful place outside heavens gate. Semper Fidelis brother, Until we all get our final orders for our final duty station and are together again.
It was a great honor & pleasure to have served with you in Iraq my Brother. Although we had not seen each other since the Marine Corps, at least our LAI platoon group chats kept us all connected through the years, truly sad, your gone too soon. Rest in Peace Bro. My heartfelt condolences go out to Greg’s family & friends, may God Bless you all with healing, strength & guidance each day. SEMPER FI MARINE!! 🇺🇸
