Service Details

Visitation will be held Friday, December 16, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Hohner Funeral Home, 1004 Arnold St., Three Rivers. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Carr officiating. She will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.

Obituary Notice

Hilda Jean Harmon, 96, of Three Rivers, passed away Monday, December 12, 2022 at ProMedica Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation.

She was born June 11, 1926 in Mattawan, the daughter of John Charles and Luella (Britton) Butler, and graduated from Three Rivers High School with the Class of 1945.

Jean had nine siblings: Thurlo, Marion, Vivian, Carl, Loranne, Francis, Kathryn, John, and Rosemond.

She married Arthur Sidney Harmon in 1947, and the couple had three girls. She stayed involved in her daughters’ lives as a room mother for Andrews School and as a Brownie leader.

Jean worked for Murphy’s Dime Store and co-owned Art’s Bicycle Shop. She and Art also worked for Mesick Campground.

She enjoyed crocheting, bike riding, camping, square dancing, collecting rocks and shells, and gardening.

Remaining to cherish Jean’s memory are three daughters, Shirley (Don) Drake, Judith (Randy) Norton, and Nancy (Brian) Labadie; seven grandkids, William, Micheal, Jeanie, Stacey, Vicki, Randy, and Brianna; 19 great-grandkids and five great-great-grandkids; several step-grandkids and great-grandkids; three special friends, Thelma James, Carol Magley, and Kathy Norton.

Additional Information

Donations in Jean’s memory may be directed to the Dementia Society of America or the Alzheimer’s Association.

    Just today, I saw your announcement on Facebook. So sorry to have missed your Mother’s service. Please accept my apology. You and your family took such special care of your Mother during her last few years and made sure she had all the attention she needed.
    It’s difficult to loose a parent no matter what age they reach. Love to all and much sympathy.
