Obituary Notice

James S. Martin, 76, of Three Rivers, Michigan, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born May 29, 1950 in Saline, the son of Richard and Ramona (Owen) Martin, and graduated from Saline High School with the Class of 1968. He cherished his time with his grandfather, who taught him how to make bows and arrows and homemade fly fishing lures.

James worked at Crocker Limited (later Exo-s) as an engineer for many, many years.

On May 22, 2010, he married Janice Cachia. They traveled often and enjoyed visiting family far and near. South Haven was a special place they enjoyed during all four seasons of the year. They enjoyed special times with their grandchildren on holidays and birthdays. They also had a special dog, Charlie, whom they loved very much.

James was an avid fisherman who loved being outdoors, especially on the lake. He enjoyed working with his hands, whether sculpting in alabaster or restoring an El Camino. Motorcycles and muscle cars were among his passions. He also loved to read his Bible and to listen to music – religious music, 60s, and early 70s. He was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Three Rivers, cherishing his Sunday services there.

Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife, Janice Cachia-Martin; son, Samuel Martin; step-sons, Jonathan Cachia, Jeffrey Cachia, and Jason Cachia; daughters, Kim (Andy) Stienbarger and Sara Perkins; grandchildren, Melissa (Micheal) DeWitt, Meagon (Logan) Vaughn, Stephen (Cloey) Persing, Jacob Stienbarger, Jenna Cachia, Lylah Cachia, Kevin Perkins, Baylee Perkins, Amber Mahalovich, and Erin Steen; several great-grandchildren; brother, Jeff (Val) Martin; sister, Cynthia Martin and her son Justin Martin; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
