Service Details

The family invites you to join them for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Obenchain Lodge located at YMCA Camp Eberhart. A visitation will be held from 12pm-2pm and memorial service at 2pm. We look forward to sharing memories, laughs and stories as Jim would have wanted us to. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Obituary Notice

James (Jim) Snell, 72, of Three Rivers, Michigan (formerly of Elkhart, Indiana) passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at his residence on Corey Lake. He was born on March 17, 1951 to Albert and Joyce Snell. On June 28, 1975 he married Barbara Hart in Elkhart.

Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Jennifer (Brent) Kattau and Eric (Ivana) Snell; grandchildren, Lena, Emily, Ava, Rhys, Layla and Marley; brother, Richard (Marilou) Snell; and sister, Linda Yoder. After graduating from Purdue University, Jim spent over 40 years as a retail pharmacist in the local Michiana area. During his retirement, Jim enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends, golfing, playing pickle ball, boating, volunteering as a redcoat at Elkhart General Hospital and serving as the treasurer for the Corey Lake Association.

Memorial donations may be made to Concord Dollars for Scholars (59117 Minuteman Way, Elkhart, IN 46517) where the family is establishing a scholarship to honor Jim’s legacy.

    He was a very nice man and Neighbor on Harbor Drive, Our sincere Condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.

  2. I wonder how many unseen kindnesses Jim displayed over the years. He shared his smile with so many people.
    There will be many happy memories to share and the family will keep the stories alive for the younger generations. I’m so sorry for your loss, Barb and family.

  3. We got to know Jim and family as a customer and quickly discovered his warm and congenial personality and the same in his entire family.
    We are deeply saddened and believe in the family strength that Jim instilled upon all.
