Johnnie Lee Lockwood, 75, of Three Rivers, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Bronson Methodist Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was born June 5, 1948 in Vicksburg, the son of Johnnie H. and Betty J. (Furtenbaugh) Lockwood, and graduated from Schoolcraft High School.
A dedicated worker in a variety of fields, Johnnie worked at a bakery in Schoolcraft, as the Schoolcraft High School Custodian, for Continental Can, in oil fields in Texas, and for Blue Cross/Blue Shield as a property manager in Kalamazoo, retiring in 2004.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved riding Harley motorcycles from the age of 15. He loved animals, especially goats, horses, and peacocks, and supported environmental initiatives as a member of the Arbor Day Foundation. He was a good storyteller of life lessons and everything from daily events to how Schoolcraft was built as he grew.
On November 4, 2004, Johnnie married Diane Marie Evans in the Schoolcraft Park Gazebo. The couple enjoyed riding motorcycles together.
Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife, Diane Evans-Lockwood; brothers, James D. and David M. Lockwood; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
