Visitation will be held at the Hohner Funeral Home, 1004 Arnold Street, Three Rivers on Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place Friday, February 24, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery.
Obituary Notice
Joyce Marie (Hay) Rumsey, age 94, died in Three Rivers, on Monday, February 20, 2023. She was born in Three Rivers on October 31, 1928, the youngest of six children born to Clarence and Alice Hay.
Joyce was a 1947 graduate of Three Rivers High School. Following graduation, she was employed by Michigan Gas & Electric, followed by a number of years at General Telephone Company, prior to retirement.
On June 25, 1949 Joyce was united in marriage to Maynard Rumsey on her family’s farm near Centreville, MI. They were married for 73 years.
Joyce enjoyed reading and appreciated a good mystery novel. She also loved to paint landscapes, flower arranging and crocheting.
Remaining to cherish her memory are her husband, Maynard; daughter, Debra (Gene) Schull; son, Dennis (Joy) Rumsey; grandchildren, Andrew (Amber) Schull and Alyssa (Adam) Erskine; and several nieces and nephews.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her five brothers: Richard, Howard, Allan, Robert, and Roland Hay and a grandson, Daniel Schull.

Memorial donations in Joyce’s name may be directed to the Three Rivers Public Library. Envelopes are available and may be sent to Hohner Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

Maynard and family. So sorry to hear about your loss. You and Joyce were the best of friends and neighbors for many years and have missed you since your move to town.
