Kathleen’s wishes were that no formal service be held; she will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery next to Bud.
Obituary Notice
Kathleen Lois Slocum, 78, of Three Rivers, passed away Friday, September 11, 2026 at Villa at Borgess Place.
She was born April 27, 1948 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Edward W. and Alberta (Timm) Kastead, and graduated from Three Rivers High School with the Class of 1966.
On April 14, 1974 Kathleen married Carl Newton “Bud” Slocum. The pair mentored children through the Big Brothers & Big Sisters program.
She worked as a security guard at American Axle & Manufacturing for about 10 years.
Kathleen was a lifetime member of the Three Rivers Eagles #2303, and loved animals, especially dogs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Slocum, in 2022.

Donations in Kathleen’s memory may be directed to the St. Joseph County Animal Rescue Fund. Envelopes will be available at Hohner Funeral Home.
